The Purpose of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Adult Probation Department is to protect the community by assisting offenders to achieve law abiding behavior and addressing noncompliance through a continuum of sanctions; while all divisions of the department work together to provide quality services for the Court. |

GUIDING PRINCIPLES The Franklin County Court of Common Pleas sets policy for the Adult Probation Department thereby providing a common understanding of the department's purpose. Staff are to function responsibly, professionally and with integrity. Offender compliance is promoted by the use of graduated sanctions ordered by the Court imposed swiftly and efficiently to protect the community and/or positively alter the offender's behavior. Staff are committed to existing programs and the development of new programs that contribute to the success of offenders and comply with the purpose of the Court and the purpose of the department. Qualified staff receive appropriate training for the enhancement of services and the safety of staff and the community. Provide accurate and timely reports and other information to the Court. Encourage rehabilitation/habilitation by identifying offender's needs and providing the opportunity to address those needs through programming and community agency referrals. Efforts to improve department effectiveness are continually pursued and issues are addressed proactively. There is coordination and cooperation of services with the Court, other court departments and outside agencies. There is accurate and consistent communication between staff and with the Court and other court departments and outside agencies. There is a commitment to collect all appropriate restitution and respond to the needs of victims with dignity and respect. Franklin County
